ARE YOU AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER?
I am not a lawyer licensed in the UK. My main background is as a concert promoter and tour manager.
To be honest, I’m not even sure why a person would really need a lawyer — especially how such a lawyer would actually be better than me.
Immigration requirements in the UK are public information. I’ve read all of them, and I keep track of every new law, since they affect my life just as much as they will affect yours.
In any case, you’ll have to prepare your portfolio yourself — no lawyer can possibly know all your projects and achievements from the internet.
Depending on the complexity of the application and the number of people included (spouses, children), UK firms will charge £1,500 – £6,000.
In reality, what you’re paying for is someone to format your documents nicely and submit them through the government portal — which, as you’ve probably guessed, is also public.
The only thing lawyers have that I (for now) don’t is statistics. But those aren’t of much use — everything depends on the quality of the application itself and the particular government officer reviewing it. The same case (especially if prepared poorly), submitted at different times and reviewed by different immigration officers, can have different outcomes.
BOTTOM LINE: You can get your visa yourself using official materials or my article. You can work with me. Or you can hire a licensed lawyer. The choice is yours!
